Sunset and Sunrise photography are the most common
photography a photographer wanted to try, not just
photographers, even an ordinary person wants to try
the Sunset photography, and everyone loves the
beauty of the sun.
First thing you need to do is to think and plan, the
point and shoot approach of sunset photography wont
work, your aim is to create a portrait not just an
ordinary snapshot of the sky. Think and be creative,
look around the scene and you can try include the
fore, mid and the back ground.
When you take pictures, you have to learn to take
precedence over what our mind has filtered. You must
recognize and visualize all this.
Search for sunset images on the internet this will
help you a lot, this will give you an idea about
what stunning sunset pictures look like.
Shooting the sun with different lenses, different
lens will result to a different perception. Look for
attractive elements to incorporate into your
photograph.
Make
a number of shots at different exposures to find out
the result of changing the aperture and shutter
speed of your camera.
Set
your DSLR to auto bracketing mode, not the auto
white balance. You Shoot in RAW because RAW this is
recommended for post processing, read my previous
article entitled camera RAW for Beginners.
To shoot a figure (like two lovers) with the sunset
as the background, set ISO to around 300 or greater
and your aperture around f/5 or f/8 and shoot in
Manual Mode. Shooting in JPG format (RAW is
recommended like I said), set your White Balance to
cloudy. Turn off auto focus and use manual focus,
lie in order to point your camera towards the sky to
eliminate disturbing elements.
If
you want to develop your sunset and sunrise
photography and you believe the scene is
attention-grabbing, revisit and try to make more
pictures, until you acquire the precise illustration
that’s on your mind.
