Many people are getting into photography these days. This is one form of art that continues to attract followers of all ages. Not surprising at all because taking photos of great images around us makes for an enriching experience whether there's a special occasion or not.

The digital camera today has been the most preferred tool for people eager to start getting into photography as a hobby. The camera's advance technology compared to the old models makes it an attractive choice. But while many have already their cameras, they still opt to buy additional digital camera accessories and one of the most sought after are the lenses.

There are basically two types of lens - the fixed focal length and the zoom. The fixed type means it is not adjustable so when you want to capture an image at a closer range, you have to go closer to the subject.

The zoom lenses are the most widely used type today. This is because it allows photo enthusiasts to change the focal length of the images they want to capture on camera without moving from their position.

This zoom lens is further classified into two - the optical and digital. For top quality images, the optical zoom lens is strongly recommended. The digital lens produces lower quality images mainly because it does not actually perform like a real zoom. It is only a simulated zoom and the focal length of the lens does not actually change unlike what the optical zoom does.

For people who own the DSLR (digital single lens reflex) camera, they can change their lenses if they like to better capture images at greater distances. You may have seen those paparazzi going around with their cameras that have very long lenses. The idea of having those additional lenses is to enable them to take photos of their sought after subject at very long distances. That's the reason why they can come up with photo of celebrities even in their most private moments while on vacation somewhere far away.

The wide-range zoom lenses may be a bit expensive but hobbyists who'd like to take great photos at a very close range or at very long distances can benefit much from using them. It's the lens that does the main job in taking quality images. The quality of the sensor inside the camera comes next in importance of functions.

Today, though, even people with compact digital cameras can enjoy the add-on converter lenses. Thanks to the ever dynamic digital technology, this has been made possible. These converter lens works by extending the capability of the built in lens of the compact point and shoot camera. No need to worry about the price because they are very affordable.

But then again, if you're really serious about photography, it's best to get a DSLR camera and invest in the lenses going forward to gain all the wonderful benefits. The weight of the camera should not be an issue because after all, it's capturing unique and memorable images that you want to achieve. So if digital camera accessories are what you fancy, do keep in mind the lenses for best results.
