Stock photography is the art of creating images from photography for
use in mediums other than personal display - such as television and print
advertising, newspapers, magazines, art and craft projects, school projects,
educational purposes and basically any other idea that you could think of to
use the image. Stock photos are usually downloadable digitally and are
available to the mass market - usually via the Internet.
 There are a number of realms of photography.
One of the most widely commercialised
spheres is stock photography. Stock photos
and images are used by graphic designers and
artists, publishers and advertising
agencies.
 Purchasing
stock photos and images is a far cheaper
option than commissioning a photographer to
create images for your use. However, the
limitations are that you don't have any
control over the final designed product.
Stock photography images can be purchased
from a large number of agencies across the
Internet. Purchased images will always carry
with them copyright and other usage
agreements that the purchaser must abide by
for legal and correct use.
 The
price of stock photography can vary
immensely and usually depends on your
intended final use whether it be in web page
design, print and digital media advertising,
product backgrounds or simple Microsoft
PowerPoint backgrounds.
